Dr. Mitch Oviatt, DVM BSc. Ag
Dr. Mitch Oviatt graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. He worked in Lethbridge for a year followed by two years in Spokane, WA at McKinlay & Peters Equine before returning to Lethbridge and eventually starting up Ranch Docs along with Dr. Ryan Mohr in 2010. Dr. Oviatt especially enjoys equine medicine, surgery, lameness and dentistry, but is also happy to work on small animals. When not chasing his five children around, Dr. Oviatt enjoys hunting upland birds behind his Brittany, fly fishing, and trail riding in the mountains.

Dr. Ryan Mohr, DVM
Dr. Ryan Mohr graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Since finishing his veterinary degree Ryan has worked with both small and large animals, but has primarily focused on horses. Dr. Mohr has a particular interest in working on performance horses. In pursuing this interest he has taken multiple courses involving diagnosis and treatment of lameness. Dr. Mohr became a certified Veterinary chiropractor in 2016. This training has worked well to complement treatment of equine athletes, pleasure horses as well as dogs and cats. Other areas of interest include equine reproduction, and small animal orthopedic surgery, including TPLOs.

Dr. Larissa Booth, DVM
Dr. Larissa Booth graduated from University of Calgary in 2021, and started at Ranch Docs shortly after. She has a passion for large animal medicine and surgery. She spends her free time skiing and playing hockey.

Dr. Angela Murray, DVM
Dr. Angela Murray graduated from Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2023. She started at Ranch Docs shortly after graduating. Dr. Murray loves small animal internal medicine, client education and wellness. She is also happy to treat your sheep and goats! She spends her free time with her dogs Zelda and Marshall.

Dr. Keltye Blais DVM
Dr. Keltye Blais graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2024 and began working at Ranch Docs shortly after. Dr. Blais loves small animal internal medicine and surgery; and has an interest in equine medicine. When she is not working she can be found spending time with her pup.

Dr. Morgan Whitelaw, DVM
Dr. Morgan Whitelaw graduated from University of Calgary in 2023. Immediately after graduation she did an equine internship at Rhinebeck Equine. She started at Ranch Docs following her internship in September 2024. Dr. Whitelaw loves senior horse care and equine internal medicine but is happy to see your small animal patients too! In her free time she loves riding horses, skiing and yoga.

Spencer McCoy-Whitaker, RVT
Spencer started working at ranch docs in May 2018. She graduated from Lakeland College in 2018 as an Animal Health Technician. She grew up in both Drumheller and Strathmore.
She enjoys spending time with her husband and 4 pets- her cats Ellie and Barb, and her dogs Tatum and Beans.

Emily Gray Root, RVT
Emily graduated from Lakeland college in 2016 and has loved working as an RVT ever since. Emily joined the Ranch Docs team in July 2021, bringing with her experience in both mixed and small animal practice. From a young age she has always had a love for animals, volunteering wherever she could frequently, and now enjoys the wide variety of experiences her work has to offer. Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with her family, being a mother of two, reading, and spending time outdoors.

Mackenzie McNeil, RVT
Mackenzie was born and raised in Medicine Hat, AB but brought to Ranch Docs due to her increasing interest in working with large animals. Mackenzie graduated from Lakeland College in 2023 and started working here soon after. Mackenzie enjoys swimming, reading, and spending time with family in her spare time.

Kennedy Poch, RVT
Hello, I’m Kennedy! I was born and raised here in Lethbridge, AB.
Following high -school I attended U of L and received my B.Sc in biology. I took the Animal Technology program at Olds College, I look forward to continuing to learn and grow in this profession. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, bouldering, and yoga!

Dakota McDonnell, RVT
Dakota grew up here in Lethbridge Alberta and has had a love for animals from a very young age. She joined the Ranch Docs team after graduating from the Lakeland College Animal Health Technology Program in the spring of 2022. She has a strong passion for working with both large and small animals and is very excited to be a part of the Ranch Docs Team. In her spare time, Dakota enjoys hiking, fishing and spending time with family and friends. She is very eager to continue to learn in this profession and looks forward to meeting all of you and your furry friends!

Erica Countryman, RVT
Erica grew up in Medicine Hat. She graduated from Olds College in 2021 and started at Ranch Docs shortly after. She loves large and small animal medicine. She spends a portion of the year going to Massey University in New Zealand.

Beth Rice, RVT
Beth grew up in Burdett, Ab and developed an interest in veterinary medicine while helping out with the animals on her grandparents farm. Beth enjoys working with large animals mainly but has cultivated a love for small animals. In her spare time, Beth enjoys spending time with her dog, two cats, and riding her horses. Beth graduated from the AHT program at Lakeland College in 2022 and joined the Ranch Docs team after completing her practicum.

Kandace Knight, RVT
Kandace joined Ranch Docs in November 2021 after graduated from Lakeland College in 2020. Kandace grew up on an acreage outside of Rimbey, AB. Outside of work Kandace enjoys riding her horses, fishing, camping, skiing and spending her time with her family and her dog Levi.

Lexie Vavrik, AHT Student
Lexie grew up in Coaldale. She graduated as a veterinary technician assistant in 2021 and is now continuing her education in animal health technology through the Penn Foster Program. She loves small animal medicine specifically internal medicine. Lexie enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her cat Ernie and her dog Diddums.

Katie Nelson, AHT Student
Katie grew up in Magrath, AB and enjoys playing sports, riding horses, and spending time outside and with her family. After high school she graduated from Medicine Hat College as a certified service dog trainer, and is currently taking Veterinary Technology through Lakeland College until summer 2026. Her favourite animals to work with are dogs, horses, and cows. She loves coming to work at Ranch Docs every day to continue to develop her skills and spend time with all the sweet animals!
